FAYETTEVILLE — Former Roland Rangers pitcher Carson Wiggins saw action for the second-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks in the final game of this past weekend’s Southeastern Conference home series against Missouri on Sunday at Baum-Walker Stadium.
Wiggins pitched the final inning of Sunday’s Game 2 16-2 rout of the Tigers, which ended in seven innings due to the game reaching runrule status, in which he struck out a batter.
The Hogs (30-3 overall, 11-1 in SEC play) dominated the Tigers (11-20, 0-12) in the series, taking the series opener 21-3 in seven innings on Saturday, then won Game 1 of Sunday’s doubleheader 14-4 in seven innings.
For the season, Wiggins is 1-0 with a 3.00 earned-run average with 12 strikeouts in nine innings pitched, all coming in relief.
Wiggins and the Razorbacks, after playing Arkansas State on Tuesday night at Baum-Walker Stadium, will return to SEC play with a three-game road series against Georgia in Athens, Ga., with game times set for 5 p.m. Friday, 1 p.m. Saturday and noon Sunday before facing Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 6 p.m. next Tuesday at home.
