Central softball team beats McCurtain before being rained out at Okay, Muldrow

The Central Lady Tigers started last week off with a 14-6 run-rule victory over the McCurtain Lady Bulldogs on March 31 to snap a three-game losing streak.

After the Lady Bulldogs took a 3-1 lead in the top of the second inning, the Lady Tigers (45) erupted for a sevenrun second inning and a six-run third inning for a 14-3 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Ayrland Jiles was 3-for-3 with a double, her second home run of the season which was an inside- the-park shot, four runs batted in and three runs scored, Charlie Petree was 3-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored, Brianna Taylor was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI, Brenleigh Allen was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Alyvia Warner was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored, Jhaselyn Gonzalez tripled with two RBIs and a run scored and Camryn Gilliam hit her first homer of the season, a two-run inside-the-park homer, and three RBIs for Central. Riley Rowland (4-5) got the win.

The Lady Tigers had their road game against Okay on March 25 canceled due to wet fields, while Thursday’s road game at Muldrow was rained out. The Muldrow game has not been rescheduled.

On March 24-25, the Lady Tigers played in the Porum Festival, where they defeated Porum 3-1 but lost the final three games — losing 12-0 to Red Oak, 15-1 to Oktaha and 8-4 to Howe.

In the win over Porum, the Lady Tigers rallied from a 1-0 second- inning deficit with a three-run third inning.

For the game, Taylor was 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Jiles was 3-for-4 with a double, a run batted in and a run scored, Petree was 3-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored, Keeley Poindexter was 3-for-3 with an RBI and Warner and Allie Harris each were 2-for-3 for Central. Riley Rowland (3-3) got the win.

In the loss to Red Oak, Red Oak pitcher Maggie Wilson tossed a four-inning six-hitter with four strikeouts.

The Lady Eagles scored seven runs in the first inning, then scored three runs in the second inning and twice in the third inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Allen was 2-for-2 with a double for Central. Rowland took the loss.

In the loss to Oktaha, the Muskogee County Lady Tigers scored once in the first inning and twice In the second inning for a 3-0 lead. Central cut the deficit to 3-1 in the third inning but got no closer.

In defeat, Taylor was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Jiles was 2-for-2 and Warner and Harris were each 2-for-3 for Central.

Rowland took the loss, despite recording three strikeouts in seven innings.

In the loss to Howe, the Lady Lions broke a 3-all tie with a two-run third inning to take a 5-3 lead. After the Lady Tigers cut the deficit to 5-4 in the fourth inning, the Lady Lions put away the game with a tworun fourth inning and a single run in the fifth inning.

In defeat, Allen was 3-for-3 with run batted in, Jiles was 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored and Petree was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Central. Rowland took the loss.
