Muldrow slow-pitch softball team begins season 2-1

The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs slow-pitch softball team opened their 2025 season 2-1 last week.

The Lady Bulldogs beat county rival Vian 9-4 in the season opener March 24 at home, then outlasted Stilwell 10-9 at home Tuesday afternoon. However, they lost 16-7 in their road opener to Oktaha on Thursday.

Friday’s road game at Spiro was rained out and won’t be rescheduled.

In the win over Vian, the Lady Bulldogs scored six runs in the third inning and once in the fourth inning for a 7-3 lead after four innings.

The Lady Wolverines scored once in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 7-4, but the Lady Bulldogs scored twice in their half of the frame to seal the deal.

For the game, Riah Keenan was 3-for-3 with a run scored, Danica Tune was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and a run batted in, Jaydin Dean was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored and Reagan Newbern was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Muldrow. Dean (2-1) got the win.

In the victory over Stilwell, Kaydence Young scored the game-winning run on a groundout by Reagan Newbern in the seventh inning to walk it off for the victory for the Lady Bulldogs.

For the game, Amarie Duran was 4-for-4 with a double, a triple, an RBI and a run scored, Amaya Duran was 4-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored, Tune was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, two RBIs and a run scored, Young was 2-for-4 with a double and scored the gamewinning run and Eve Keenan was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Muldrow.

Dean got the win, recording two strikeouts.

In the loss to Oktaha, the Lady Tigers rallied from a 7-4 fifth-inning deficit with a nine-run fifth inning and a threerun sixth inning to get the come-from-behind victory.

In defeat, Amarie Duran was 2-for-3, while Amaya Duran was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored for Muldrow. Dean suffered her first loss of the season.
