Gans baseball team falls to Warriors before two losses in WF Tournament
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

It was a rough week on the diamond for the Gans Grizzlies as they lost their home game 16-0 in three innings to Webbers Falls on March 24, then lost twice in the Webbers Falls Tournament — facing 16-3 to Warner on Thursday and 13-1 to Keota on Friday. The Grizzlies did not play their tournament pool-play game against Porter on Friday nor the seventh-place game against Arkoma on Saturday.

In the home loss to Webbers Falls, the Warriors put away the game early with a six-run first inning. A six-run second inning and a four-run third inning put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Jasper Green’s single was all the Grizzlies (0-5) could muster offensively.

Jaxon Ragsdale took the loss, lasting only two-thirds of an inning. Austin Hines went the final 2.1 innings with four strikeouts.

In the loss to Warner, the Eagles flew out to a 5-0 lead in the opening inning. After the Grizzlies scored three runs in the third inning to cut the deficit to 5-3, the Eagles put the game into run-rule status with an 11-run third inning.

In defeat, Harley Strahm and Phoenix Xiong each singled for Gans.

Jarrett Frazier-Barter took the loss, lasting only an inning with two strikeouts. Ragsdale got the first out in the second inning, then, Xiong got the next three outs — all by strikeout. Brenden Strickland got the final out of the game.

In the loss to Keota, after the Grizzlies took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Lions roared back with two runs in the first inning, six runs in the second inning and five runs in the third inning for a 13-1 lead to put the game into runrule status.

The combination of Keota pitchers of Kaden Decker and Maddox Howard combined to no-hit the Grizzlies.

Frazier-Barter took the loss, going the first 2.2 innings with four strikeouts. Of the 13 runs Keota scored, only eight were earned due to two Gans errors.
