Gans Lady Grizzlies slow-pitch softball team goes through winless week
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

It was not the way the Gans Lady Grizzlies slow-pitch softball team wanted to enter this week’s Spring Break Week.

The Lady Grizzlies went through a winless week last week, losing both games of a road three-way on March 10 in Leflore as they fell 15-2 to Antlers and 12-0 to the host Lady Savages before suffering backto- back home losses — 12-8 to Haileyville on March 11 and 12-8 to Webbers Falls on Friday.

Thursday’s home game against Cave Springs was canceled with no make-up date set as of press time.

In the loss to Antlers, after the Lady Grizzlies (1-6) took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, the Lady Bearcats scored nine runs in the first inning and six runs in the second inning to put the game into run-rule status.

The Lady Grizzlies were no-hit. Yesenia Gaona (1-1) suffered the loss, going the first inning. Aaliyah Taylor pitched the second inning.

In the loss to Leflore, the Lady Grizzlies for the second time on the day as the Lady Savages broke a scoreless tie with a 12-run second inning.

Taylor (0-1) suffered the loss, only lasting 1.1 innings. K’Cee Osborn went the final two-thirds of an inning.

In the loss to Haileyville, the Lady Warriors, who fell behind 1-0 after an inning, scored eight runs in the second inning for an 8-1 lead after two innings.

A two-run third inning, a single run in the fourth inning and a three-run sixth inning helped the Lady Grizzlies cut their deficit to 8-7 after six innings, but the Lady Warriors put away the game with a four-run seventh inning for a 12-7 lead.

In defeat, Addy Bibbs was 3-for-4 with a double and a run batted in, Aaliyah Taylor was 3-for-4 with with a double and two runs scored, Gabbie Price was 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and two runs scored, K’Cee Osborn was 2-for-4 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored, Destiny Phillips was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Makenzy Hunter was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Yesenia Gaona was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, Amarys White doubled with an RBI and a run scored and Maddie Freeman doubled for Gans.

Phillips (1-3) took the loss, despite getting two strikeouts in seven innings.

In the loss to Web-bers Falls, after the Lady Grizzlies cut their deficit to 5-4 with a four-run third inning, the Lady Warriors put away the game with a seven-run fifth inning to take a 12-4 lead. Gans scored four runs in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 12-8 after five innings but got no closer.

In defeat, Price was 2-for-2 with a run scored, Freeman had a single and two RBIs and Bibbs singled with an RBI for the Lady Grizzlies.

Phillips took the loss, although she recorded a strikeout.
