I Never Knew You…Depart from Me
Counterfeit Christians
By Shirley R. Watts

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, …Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me,” (Matt 7:2124). Counterfeits

Many profess Christ today. You ask them if they are saved they say: I go to church, sing in the choir, teach a class, a deacon, good works, give and preach weekly. Without Christ, you are a “counterfeit Christian.”

Few say, I am a born again Christian, gave my heart to Jesus. I have been forgiven of all sin, I love Him and live for Him as best I can. He is my Lord and Savior! I have eternal life! I pray and study my Bible, attend and experience worship and I witness to the lost.

Many counterfeit Christians are in our local churches. Unless you repent and accept Christ, you will go out into the Seven Year Great Tribulation (Rev. 6-20).

“Beware of false prophets,…” (Matt 7:15). There are many false prophets in our world today who have deceived millions. The greatest danger is when you deceive yourself. You profess, but do not possess eternal life. You know the language, doctrines, but you are not saved, but deceived! approximately 65% of local church member may be lost. The majority of local members are counterfeiters!

Two Ways – Trees-Foundations

There are two ways to travel this life…”Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matt 7:1315).

Counterfeit Christians are on the “broad” way, for it is the most popular. The “narrow” way is difficult and travelled by born again Christians.

Church member, are you born again? Which “way” are you travelling? Maybe you have been deceived, if so, you are a counterfeit Christian. If you have not been saved by faith in Christ, after you repented of sin, you are not on the “narrow” way! You cannot build a life, nor travel both ways at the same time, for they go in different directions.

“…every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. …Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them” (Matt 7:1721).

What kind of fruit are you bearing? Counterfeits cannot bear “good” fruit, only “rotten” fruit!

“Therefore whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock,…and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock” (Matt 7:24-27). The storms of life did not move it.

“a foolish man who built his house on the sand:” The storms of life cause it to fall. The difference is the “foundation!” Unless you are born again, you will fall! You will hear the words: “Depart from Me, I never knew you.” Jesus Christ is the “solid foundation” there is no other that can stand the “storms of life” and have eternal life.

Church member, are you born again? Which way are you travelling? Good or rotten fruit? Which foundation are you building on? Be reminded, if you are not saved, that the false profession can only last until the judgment day. There, your life will collapse.

True Born Agains

They are convicted of their sins against God, confessed, repented and placed their faith in Jesus and now they travel the “narrow” way. They are obedient to the words of Christ. They have faith in Him alone! Their foundations on the rock, not sand, bearing good fruit and have eternal life. We have nothing to fear! Amen.

When a person is truly born again, you receive the Holy Spirit of God into your heart. He enables you to know and do God’s will. Your life changes!

Be saved today! (John 3:16; Rev. 20:15).
