Funeral services for Hubert Dewane Townsend, 87, of Muldrow, were held at 10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow. Burial followed at Liberty Cemetery in Muldrow, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Townsend was born on June 26, 1937, in Sapulpa, to Dollie Ruth (Walker) Townsend and Truman Britton Townsend. He passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2025, in Muldrow.
He married Carolyn S. Townsend on Nov. 20, 1964, in Miami, Okla. She preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 2020.
He worked as a truck driver, cashier at Easy Mart in Muldrow, and server at Jerry Neal’s BBQ. He enjoyed crocheting, western movies, and fishing with his grandchildren.
Survivors are a daughter, Amanda Cantrell and Jeffery of Muldrow; two sons, David Townsend and Kimberly of Republic, Mo., and John Townsend and Marilyn of Alton, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; sister, Virgie Buttery of Broken Arrow; along with many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Rita Caughman; sister, Linda Sue McCullum; four brothers, Clarence, Travis, Gerald and Jackie Townsend; grandson, David Townsend, Jr.; and great-grandchild, Owen Cantrell.
Pallbearers were Jacob Cantrell, Aaron Cantrell, David Townsend, Jerry Thibodeaux, Levi Townsend and Ronnie Thibodeaux.
