PORUM — The Gans Lady Grizzlies ended last week on a twogame winning streak as they captured the consolation championship game 47-21 over the Weleetka Lady Outlaws junior varsity Saturday afternoon after knocking off the Keota Lady Lions 40-25 in Friday afternoon’s consolation semifinals. The Lady Grizzlies lost 5725 to the Midway Lady Chargers in the opening round on Jan. 20.
The Grizzlies went 0-2 in the tournament, losing their openinground game 65-22 to the Weleetka Outlaws and their consolation semifinal contest 42-20 to the Keota Lions on Friday evening.
In the girls’ consolation championship, the Lady Grizzlies (3-13) jumped out to an 18-0 lead after a period and were never headed.
For the game, Sophie Pulice scored a gamehigh 17 points and K’Cee Osborn added 10 points to lead Gans, followed by Brighton Dorsey with seven points, Aaliyah Taylor and Maria Solis with four points each, Yosenia Gaona with three points and Maddie Freeman with two points.
In the girls’ consolation semifinals, the Lady Grizzlies doubled the Lady Lions 12-6 after a quarter as they proceeded onward for a 21-13 halftime lead and a 3118 advantage going into the fourth quarter.
For the game, Freeman scored 11 points and Pulice added 10 points to lead Gans, followed by Osborn with seven points, Dorsey with six points, Skylyn Bird with four points and Gaona with two points.
In the girls’ openinground game, the Lady Chargers led 10-2 after a quarter, then used a 17-8 second period to up their advantage to 27-10 at halftime. A 21-11 third quarter increased Midway’s lead to 48-22 going into the final period.
In defeat, Pulice led Gans with seven points, followed by Freeman with four points, Silos with three points, Osborn, Dorsey, Amarys White and Addy Bibbs with two points and Madi Pilkington with a free throw.
In the boys’ openinground game, the Grizzlies (0-15) fell behind the Outlaws 23-6 after a quarter and never recovered.
In defeat, Austin Hines led Gans with six points, followed by Bryce Stevens and Jarrett Frazier-Barret with three points each, Gabriel Christopherson, Jessie Phillips, Hunter Edwards and Kennley Green each with two points and Cristian Gaona and Preston Moore with a free throw.
In the boys’ consolation semifinals, the Lions roared out to a 13-2 lead after a quarter, which became a 24-6 halftime advantage and a 37-11 lead going into the final period.
In defeat, Phillips and Gaona each scored six points to lead Gans, followed by Hines with three points, Christopherson and Moore with two points each and Preston Bennett with a free throw.
