Central Tigers stun top seed Roland Runnin’ Rangers in SCC semifinals; Muldrow teams, host Lady Rangers also make county finals
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

The fourth-seeded Central Tigers pulled off the shocker of the 2025 Sequoyah County Classic as they upset the topseeded and host Roland Runnin’ Rangers 64-61 last Wednesday night at the Ranger Dome.

Due to Thursday’s snowstorm, the final day of the 2025 Sequoyah County Classic took place Monday at the Ranger Dome.

The Tigers faced the Muldrow Bulldogs, a 55-43 winner over the Stigler Panthers last Wednesday, on Monday night for the county title.

The Tigers defeated the Vian Wolverines 47-42 on Jan. 7 at Gore Event Center in their opening-round game, while the Runnin’ Rangers got a first-round bye.

The girls’ championship game is a rematch of last year’s title contest as the Roland Lady Rangers met the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs in Monday night’s county finals.

The Lady Rangers, who got a first-round bye, defeated Stigler 60-34, while the Lady Bulldogs avenged their Dec. 10 loss to the Lady Tigers with a 37-25 victory.

The Central teams each won their openinground game as the Lady Tigers defeated the Gore Lady Pirates 51-30 on Dec. 6 at Gore Event Center, while the Tigers got past the Vian Wolverines 47-42 on Dec. 7 at Gore.

The Lady Tigers were to have faced the Lady Panthers for third place on Monday, but the Lady Panthers could not return. So, the Lady Wolverines, who were to have meet Gore for the consolation championship on Monday but could not since Gore could not return, ended up facing the Lady Tigers.

A similar situation took place for the Runnin’ Rangers, who were to have meet Stigler for third place on Monday evening, but due to the Panthers not be able to return, they ended up facing the Wolverines, who were slated to play Gore for the consolation title but the Pirates could not return Monday.

It was two-and-out for both Gans teams. The Grizzlies lost 69-21 to Muldrow on Dec. 7 at the Ranger Dome, then were eliminated by Gore as the Pirates prevailed 78-31 last Wednesday at Gore Activity Center.

The Lady Grizzlies lost 62-21 to Muldrow on Dec. 7 in Roland, then fell 55-12 to the sub-host Lady Pirates last Wednesday in Gore.
