TSET offers support for healthier habits, brighter future

The Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust (TSET) is making it easier for Oklahomans to achieve their New Year’s health goals. With free programs like the Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline, Shape Your Future and the TSET Healthy Youth Initiative, TSET has the resources to help every Oklahoman quit tobacco, stay active and improve nutrition— all at no cost. “The start of a new year is a time for fresh opportunities,” said Julie Bisbee, TSET executive director. “Our programs offer practical, free tools to help Oklahomans in rural and urban areas take steps toward healthier lives, for themselves and their families.”

Smoking remains the leading cause of preventable deaths in the nation – almost half a million Americans die every year as a result of tobacco use. From cancer and lung disease to heart health and diabetes – quitting tobacco is the single best thing a person can do to improve their health and quality of life.

Tobacco users thinking about quitting can find support through the Oklahoma Tobacco Helpline. This free service provides nicotine replacement therapy (patches, gum or lozenges), personalized quit plans and oneon- one coaching. Call 1-800-QUIT NOW (1-800-784-8669), text READY to 34191 or visit OKhelpline.com to begin your journey to better health.

Teens who vape or use tobacco can also access free support through My Life, My Quit™, a program tailored for ages 13-17. The service, part of the TSET Healthy Youth Initiative, offers confidential coaching via text or chat. Visit My-LifeMyQuit.com or text “Start My Quit” to 36072 for more information.

Shape Your Future, another TSET program, helps Oklahomans make small, manageable changes to improve health. With tips for cooking nutritious meals, exercising and cutting back on sugary drinks, the program offers simple ways to build habits that stick. Start with a quick health quiz at ShapeYourFutureOK. com to discover ideas for your family.

This year, let Shape Your Future help you start 2025 strong with the 1 Month, 4 Healthy Challenges email series. Starting Sunday, January 5th, you’ll receive one email each week with a new healthy habit to try. Get practical tips for eating better, drinking water, moving more and boosting your sleep—even for the busiest schedules. Visit ShapeYourFutureOK. com/Challenge to sign up today!
