Muldrow basketball teams get road sweep over Ozark after being swept by Roland

The week didn’t start good for the Muldrow High School basketball teams after they lost their NOAA Conference games to archrival Roland on Dec. 10 at the Ranger Dome, but things ended well as the Lady Bulldogs and ’Dogs got a pair of road wins Thursday night over Ozark, Ark.

The Lady Rangers defeated the Lady Bulldogs 39-31, then the Runnin’ Rangers knocked off the Bulldogs 71-60.

On Thursday night, the Lady Bulldogs defeated Ozark 46-36, then the ”Dogs got past Ozark 54-50.

In the Muldrow-Roland girls’ game, the Lady Rangers (4-3 overall, 2-0 in NOAA Conference play) broke a 3-all tie after a quarter as they doubled up the Lady Bulldogs (3-5, 1-1) in the second period by an 18-9 score to give Roland a 21-12 lead at halftime. Muldrow outscored Roland 19-18 in the second half, but the rally fell short.

For the game, Ryanne Nelke led Roland with a game-high 17 points, followed by Haven Freeman with seven points, Halle Freeman with six points, Julianna Trujillo and Lilly Cole with four points each and Molly Carver with a free throw.

In defeat, Kayla Ellingberg scored eight points to lead Muldrow, followed by Jensi Fields with seven points, London Hardin with six points, Kilah Ellingberg with four points and Emma Fields with three points.

In the Muldrow-Roland boys’ game, the Runnin’ Rangers (7-0 overall, 2-0 in conference play) jumped out to a 25-14 lead after a quarter, a 35-26 advantage at halftime and a 54-44 lead going into the fourth quarter.

For the game, Damonte Owens scored a game-high 29 points to lead Roland, followed by Buck Triplett with 19 points, Kayden Hartt with nine points, Raesean Perryman with eight points and Kade Shook and Landon Fowler with three points apiece.

In defeat, Teaguen Collins scored 26 points to lead the Bulldogs (44, 1-2), followed by Jesse Kilinc with 13 points, Parker Sevenstar with six points, D.J. Massey and Jaxson Anstine with five points each, DeShawn Willson with three points and Tyson Williams with two points.

In the Muldrow girls’ win over Ozark, the Lady Bulldogs broke a 9-all tie after a quarter by outscoring Ozark 17-10 in the second period to take a 26-19 halftime lead. An 11-4 third quarter for Muldrow upped its advantage to 37-23 going into the fourth period.

London Hardin scored a game-high 15 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Kilah Ellingberg and Maysi Fields with eight points each, Jensi Fields with seven points, Kayla Ellingberg with six points and Chloee Clark with two points.

In the Muldrow boys’ victory over Ozark, the ’Dogs got out to an 18-6 lead after a period, but did see Ozark use a 1510 second quarter to cut Muldrow’s advantage to 28-21 at halftime. Despite Ozark outscoring Muldrow 29-26 in the second half, the Bulldogs were able to hang on for the win.

For the game, Collins scored a game-high 31 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Kilinc with 13 points. E.J. Zanders with four points and Anstine and Sevenstar with three points apiece.
