Gans basketball teams suffer losses in Wilson Tiger Classic

HENRYETTA — It was a rough week of basketball for the Gans High School teams as they lost both games each team played in the Wilson Tiger Classic.

The Grizzlies lost 67-11 to Liberty in the opening round on Dec. 10, then lost in the boys consolation finals 62-37 to Webbers Falls.

The Lady Grizzlies fell 70-27 to the host Wilson (Henryetta) Lady Tigers on Dec. 9, then suffered a 59-26 to Webbers Falls in the girls consolation championship game.

In the Gans boys’ loss to Liberty, the Grizzlies (0-4) were led by Austin Hines with five points, while Jessie Phillips, Jaxon Ragsdale and Lucas Flute all had two points apiece.

In the boys’ consolation finals, the Warriors jumped out to an 18-8 lead after a quarter, en route to a 33-17 halftime advantage and a 53-26 lead going into the final period.

In defeat, Hines led the Grizzlies with nine points, followed by Leland Locust with five points, Phillips, Preston Bennett and Jarrett Frazier-Barret with four points each, Ragsdale, Bryce Stevens and Christian Gaona each with three points and Gabriel Christopherson with two points.

In the Gans’ girls loss to Wilson (Henryetta), the Lady Grizzlies (0-4) fell behind 21-2 after a quarter and never recovered.

In defeat, Madi Pilkington led Gans with eight points, followed by K’Cee Osborn with six points, Skylyn Bird and MaKinzie Kimble with four points each, Addy Bibbs and McKenzy Hunter each with two points and Amarys White with a free throw.

In the girls’ consolation championship game, the Lady Grizzlies fell behind 16-6 after a period, then trailed 3017 at halftime and 44-23 after three quarters.

In defeat. Bird, Kimble and Bibbs all scored six points each to lead Gans, followed by Aaliyah Taylor with five points, Pilkington with two points and Osborn with a free throw.
