Jesus Said…According to Your Faith
Commentary

Jesus Said…According to Your Faith
By Shirley R. Watts

“When Jesus departed from there, two blind men followed Him, crying out and saying, “Son of David, have mercy on us!” “And Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” “Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.”

“Faith is the substance of things hoped for the evidence not seen” (Heb 11:1).

Physical Blindness

“Blindness” “without the power of seeing, vision is obstructed as a window-shade pulled down.

These men followed Jesus seeking Him to be healed of their blindness. They heard that Jesus was near and they made the decision to seek Jesus and were desperate and determined. Jesus was their only hope! They had a great desire to come out of the darkness.

They acknowledge who Jesus was… “Son of David, have mercy on us.” And Jesus asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They said to Him, “Yes, Lord.” Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.” Then He touched their eyes, saying, “According to your faith let it be to you.”

They were determined and desperate to be delivered from the power of darkness. They would not delay! They would not continue to walk with and follow the blind! They would not be deprived of the light! There was more to life and they desired it! They would not die in the darkness! They would ask for mercy!

Spiritual Blindness This is a picture of the “spiritually blind” men and women living in darkness who have not received the “Light” of Jesus into your heart by faith. You are without the power to see! Unlike the blind men, you are delaying your decision to be saved. You are being deceived by Satan. He has pulled the “window shade” down and keeping the Light from you. He is placing people, places, things and circumstances between you and the Light of Jesus.

Jesus came “To open blind eyes, To bring out prisoners from the prison, Those who sit in darkness from the prison house” (Isa. 42’7). The unsaved are in bondage to sin and are now living in the kingdom of Satan.

If you continue in the darkness with all who are there, all fall in the ditch…all will go to Hell! “And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” (Matt. 15:14).

“Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God”… He also said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me”. (Jn. 3:3; 14:6) Jesus is your only hope! You must acknowledge Him as “God the Son, the Son of David” the Savior of the world who has the power to forgive you of sin and save you, and lead you out of the darkness. He is your only hope! “for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost” (Luke 19:10).

Jesus also said: “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”(John 3:3). “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.” (John 3:18).

Unsaved, you must be as the blind men who made the “decision” to seek Jesus regardless of the things and people who hinder you. You must acknowledge Jesus and that “you are a sinner” (Rom. 3:23) and need His mercy. You must be “determined and desperate to be delivered” from the power of darkness. He alone is your only hope! Don’t be deprived of the Light, You don’t have to die in the darkness! Don’t delay! “According to your faith let it be to you.”

True Believers

Go! “…you yourself are a guide to the blind, a light to those who are in darkness, (Rom 2:19) Are you a light to those in darkness?

What if Jesus comes today?

Will He find you hiding the Light?
