Muldrow Bulldogs fall to No. 1 Lincoln Christian
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

Class 3A’s top-ranked Lincoln Christian football team showed Muldrow just why it is ranked No. 1 as well as won the state title last year.

In a battle of Bulldogs last Thursday night at Marty Rogers Field, Lincoln Christian routed Muldrow 48-0 in a District 3A-3 game.

Lincoln Christian’s Bulldogs (7-0 overall, 4-0 in district play) had a 42-0 lead at halftime.

“Lincoln Christian is a very good football team,” said Muldrow coach Logan Coatney, whose Bulldogs dropped to 4-3 overall and 1-3 in district play. “There’s no doubt about that. I don’t think there’s anybody else in our district who would tell you otherwise. I don’t think there’s anybody in (Class) 3A who would tell you otherwise, or anybody they’ve played. Lincoln Christian is the real deal. Anytime you’re playing a ball game like that where you’re outmatched, it’s tough. It’s tough to get your kids in the right mindset to go out there and compete, and try to take advantage of opportunities that were given to us. It was tough all the way around for any team in our district that gets to play them.”

Muldrow now will face the other Tulsa school in the district, the Tulsa Holland Hall Dutch (4-3, 2-2), at 7 p.m. this Friday in Tulsa.

“It’s the same things that concerned us with Lincoln Christian,” Coatney said about the Dutch. “They’ve had a few closer games this season than Lincoln (Christian) has had. At the end of the day, Holland Hall is a good football team. They’re a physical football team up front. They have good athletes. They’re skilled. I think (Tulsa Holland Hall) coach (Brian) Thompson does a great job with those guys up there. We’re still going to prepare for it. We’re going to work our butts off this week and put a good game plan together to give ourselves an opportunity (to win the game).”
