Verlon Dwight Ringgold, 79, was born on July 6, 1945, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Verlon Ringgold and Bernice Louise (Hicks) Rau. He died on Friday, Sept 13, 2024.
He was a 1963 graduate of Gans High School, and attended Conners State College and Northeastern State University. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War where he was stationed in Korea as part of the 38th Artillery Brigade, and was discharged in 1970. In 1975, he founded Ringgold Bail Bonds in Tulsa.
Mr. Ringgold loved sports, enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar, and attending the Tulsa Dirt Track Races. He was an active member of Sand Springs American Legion Billie A Hall Post 17, VFW Post 577 in Tulsa, and Olivet Baptist Church.
He was marred to his wife, Karen, on June 6, 1993, in Tulsa.
Survivors are wife, Karen; children, Monica Ringgold and Joe Berry of Sand Springs, Dallas Ringgold and wife Pamela of Sapulpa, Jennifer Ringgold and Chris Garcia of Fort Smith, and Amy Helt and Virgil Wilson of Preston; siblings: Larry Ringgold and wife Bonnie of Gans, Allan Rau of Gans, Stan Rau and wife Dacie of Fort Smith, and Tamera Gardner and husband Chad of Mertzon, Texas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
