Mary Jane Rogers, age 81, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024, at Covington Court in Fort Smith, Ark. She was born June 22, 1943, in Houston.
Mary Jane was the beloved daughter of Roy and Rosie (Gragert) Cure. She married the love of her life Arlin L. Rogers on Dec. 22, 1962. They spent 58 wonderful years together.
Mary Jane and Arlin spent a number of years dedicating their lives to serving the Lord through prison ministry. Mary Jane worked many years in the front office of the Sequoyah County Times newspaper in Sallisaw. She was loved by customers and co-workers. Mary Jane enjoyed singing in her church, Liberty Assembly of God in Muldrow. In her free time, she loved sewing, cross stitching and playing domino’s with friends. More than anything, she will be remembered for her sense of humor and her ability to get a smile or laughter out of anyone she met. Mary Jane loved God with all her heart and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mary Jane is survived by one niece, Dana (Cure) Anderson; three nephews, Steven Cure, Justin Cure and Jay Cure; numerous great-nieces and greatnephews; and one close friend Valerie Matlock.
Mary Jane is preceded in death by her loving husband Arlin L. Rogers; her parents, Roy and Rosie Cure; and two brothers, John David Cure and Jimmie Cure.
A family memorial service was held at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2024, at Upper Camp Creek Cemetery in Muldrow. Cremation is under the careful direction of Lewis Funeral Chapel.
