Muldrow Lady Bulldogs go 1-3 in I-40 Classic after splitting with FG, losing to Central
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs softball team went 1-3 in last weekend’s I-40 Softball Classic after splitting home District 4A-6 games with Fort Gibson and losing to Central.

The Lady Bulldogs defeated Vian 3-1 on Thursday on the first day of the I-40 Softball Classic at Central High School after they lost the first game of the day 6-3 to the Lady Tigers. After falling 4-1 to Warner, the Lady Bulldogs lost 8-4 to Roland.

On Sept. 10, the Lady Bulldogs split their home district doubleheader with Fort Gibson, beating the Lady Tigers 8-7 in the nightcap after losing 10-2 in the opener.

The Lady Bulldogs began the week with a 5-3 loss to Central on Sept. 9.

In the win over Vian, the Lady Bulldogs (8-13) scored single runs in the first, fourth and fifth innings for a 3-0 lead. The Lady Wolverines scored once in the sixth inning, but their rally fell short.

For the game, Danica Tune was 3-for-3 with two runs scored for Muldrow.

Jaydin Dean (6-6) got the win, striking out eight batters in six innings.

In the loss to Central in the I-40 Softball Classic, the Lady Tigers scored three runs in the fourth inning on Charlie Petree’s three-run triple to take the lead for good at 6-3 after the Lady Bulldogs tied the game at 3-all with a tworun fourth inning.

In defeat, Tune was 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and two runs scored for Muldrow.

Kaydence Young (27) suffered the loss, despite five Ks in four innings.

In the loss to Roland, the Lady Rangers rallied from a 4-3 deficit with a five-run fourth inning to snatch away the victory from the jaws of defeat.

In defeat, Tune doubled and Dean and Kynlee Thomas each singled for the Lady Bulldogs.

Young took the loss, despite fanning five batters in 3.1 innings.

In the loss to Warner, Warner pitcher Ella Labounty threw a twohitter and struck out six batters.

The Lady Eagles broke a scoreless tie with a four-run sixth inning.

In defeat, Young was 2-for-2 with a run batted in.

Dean suffered the loss, despite five Ks in six innings.

In the win over Fort Gibson, the Lady Bulldogs got their first district win to improve to 1-5 in District 4A-6 play.

Muldrow broke a scoreless tie with a tworun second inning, a five-run third inning and a single run in the fourth inning for an 8-0 lead.

However, the Lady Tigers made the Lady Bulldogs sweat it out as they scored three runs in the fourth inning, single runs in the fifth and sixth innings and twice in the seventh inning to cut their deficit to a run. However, Dean got the final batter to ground out to end the game and preserve the district victory.

For the game, Amarie Duran was 2-for-5 with two RBIs, Amaya Duran was 2-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI, Raegan Newbern was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and Young doubled and scored twice for Muldrow. Dean got the win.

In the loss to Fort Gibson, the Lady Tigers broke a 2-all tie with a five-run fourth inning, then followed that with a two-run sixth inning and a run in the seventh inning.

In defeat, Dean was 2-for-4 with a run batted in, Young was 2-for-3 with a double and Newbern was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Muldrow.

Young took the loss in relief, going the final 5.1 innings with three strikeouts. Dean started the game and went the first 1.2 innings with a strikeout.

In the opening-week loss to Central, a threerun seventh inning rally propelled the host Lady Tigers to the comefrom- behind victory. In defeat, Amarie Duran was 2-for-4, Dean was 2-for-4 and Amaya Duran was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run scored for the Lady Bulldogs (6-9).
