Central Lady Tigers pick up two wins in I-40 Classic after knocking off Muldrow

The Central Lady Tigers got a pair of wins in last weekend’s I-40 Softball Classic after they rallied to down Muldrow to begin last week’s action.

The Lady Tigers defeated Muldrow 6-3 and Vian 8-7 but lost 7-5 to Keys and 6-1 to Warner.

The Lady Tigers began the week with a 6-3 come-from-behind win over the Lady Bulldogs on Sept. 9.

In the win over Muldrow in the I-40 Softball Classic, the Lady Tigers (10-14) scored three runs in the fourth inning on Charlie Petree’s threerun triple to take the lead for good at 6-3.

For the game, Petree was 3-for-3 with a threerun triple and four runs batted in, Ayrland Jiles was 2-for-2 with a triple with three runs scored, Brenliegh Allen was 2-for-3, Alyvia Warner doubled and scored once and Camryn Gilliam tripled and scored once for Central.

Allen (7-9) got the win, striking out four batters in five innings.

In the victory over Vian, two steals of home, one by Camryn Gilliam and the other by Keeley Poindexter, and an RBI single by Allie Harris produced three runs in the sixth inning to rally the Lady Tigers to the win.

For the game, Jiles was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Petree was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs batted in and a run scored, Allen was 2-for-3, Brianna Taylor was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Poindexter was 2-for-3 with a solo home run and two runs scored for Central.

Allen got the win, fanning five batters in six innings.

In the loss to Keys, the Lady Tigers had a 4-2 lead after two innings, but the Lady Cougars scored four runs in the third inning to take the lead for good at 6-4. Central cut the deficit to 6-5 after three innings but got no closer.

In defeat, Taylor was 2-for-2 with a triple and a run scored, Jiles doubled and scored once and Riley Rowland doubled with a run batted in for Central.

Allen took the loss, despite getting two strikeouts in four innings.

In the loss to Warner, Warner pitcher Ella Labounty struck out 11 batters and threw a fourhitter.

The Lady Eagles broke a 1-all tie with a five-run fourth inning.

In defeat, Warner was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Harris and Jiles each doubled for Central.

Allen suffered the loss, despite getting two strikeouts in five innings.

In the week-starting victory over Muldrow, a three-run seventh inning rally propelled the host Lady Tigers to the win.

For the game, Jiles was 2-for-4 with a triple, a three-run inside-thepark homer and five runs batted in, while Taylor was 2-for-3 for the Lady Tigers.

Brenliegh Allen got the win as she struck out six batters in seven innings.
