Gans Lady Grizzlies beat Webbers Falls after losing to Gore
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

The Gans Lady Grizzlies split their first two games of last week, beating the Webbers Falls Lady Grizzlies 14-8 Thursday afternoon at home after falling 9-8 to the host Gore Lady Pirates on Aug. 26.

Gans’ home Riverside Conference game against the co-op Cameron- Arkoma team ended up being canceled on Aug. 27, but the Lady Grizzlies were slated to play Colcord and Vian in this past Friday’s Westville Tournament.

In the win over Webbers Falls, the Lady Grizzlies (5-6) rallied from a 6-5 fifth-inning deficit with a two-run fifth inning and a seven-run sixth inning for a 14-6 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Gabbie Price was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored, Abigail Leach was 2-for-4 with a triple and two runs scored, Maddie Freeman was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in, Brighton Dorsey was 2-for-4 with three RBIs and a run scored and Addy Bibbs was 2-for-3 for Gans.

Leach (3-5) got the win, striking out 10 batters in six innings.

In the loss to Gore, the Lady Pirates were able to score late to rally past the Lady Grizzlies.

The Lady Pirates, who trailed 8-7 after a tworun fifth inning by the Lady Grizzlies, snatched away the win as Hallie Brewer hit a game-tying RBI double and Ricki Huckbay got the gamewinning RBI as she was hit by a pitch with two outs to score Brewer from third base.

In defeat, Price was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and a run batted in, Freeman was 2-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and a run scored and Leach tripled with two RBIs and a run scored for Gans.

Leach suffered the loss, despite fanning seven batters in six innings.
