Lady Bulldogs’ pitchers throw three no-hitters

OKMULGEE — The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs went 5-1 in last weekend’s Okmulgee Festival.

The Lady Bulldogs (6-4) won both of their games on each of the first two days of the three-day event.

Muldrow got past Wilson (Henryetta) 6-4 and routed host Okmulgee 14-0 on Thursday, then won a pair of games by shutout on Friday — 11-0 over Liberty and 11-0 over the Kiefer junior varsity.

Muldrow split its games on Saturday, beating Mounds 10-0 but losing 3-2 to Sequoyah-Tahlequah.

Last week started on a down note as the Lady Bulldogs lost a 6-4 District 4A-6 road game against Checotah.

In Thursday’s win over Wilson (Henryetta), the Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 4-0 lead after an inning. After the Lady Tigers cut their deficit to 4-3 after three innings, the Lady Bulldogs got two big insurance runs in the fourth inning to take a 6-3 lead after four innings.

For the game, Jaydin Dean was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored for Muldrow.

Dean (4-2) got the win, going the final 4.1 innings with six strikeouts. Kaydence Young got the first out of the game.

In Thursday’s victory over host Okmulgee, the duo of Young and Madi Williams combined on a one-hitter.

Young (2-2) got her first win of the season, striking out eight batters in three innings. Williams pitched a scoreless fourth inning with two Ks.

In the battle of Lady Bulldogs, Muldrow put away Okmulgee early with a pair of four-run innings in the first two innings for an 8-0 lead. A pair of three-run innings in the third and fourth innings put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Amarie Duran was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a run batted in, Danica Tune was 3-for-3 with an inside- the-park home run, five RBIs and three runs scored, Dean was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Young was 2-for-3 with two doubles and two runs scored, Amaya Duran was 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run scored and Kesslyn Pratt was 2-for-2 with two runs scored and an RBI for Muldrow.

In Friday’s win over Liberty, Dean got the win as she no-hit the Lady Tigers and struck out eight batters in 2.2 innings.

The Lady Bulldogs scored three runs in the opening inning for a 3-0 lead, which was more than enough run support for Dean. Muldrow put the game into runrule status with a pair of four-run innings in the second and third innings.

For the game, Amaya Duran doubled with an RBI, while Young doubled with two RBIs and two runs scored for Muldrow.

In the victory over the Kiefer JV, it was Young’s turn to throw a no-hitter as she fanned eight Lady Trojans in three innings.

A four-run first inning for Muldrow was all the run support Young needed. A six-run second inning and a solo run in the third inning put the game into runrule status.

For the contest, Amarie Duran was 2-for-3, Dean was 2-for-3 with three runs scored, Tune was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored and Amaya Duran doubled with two RBIs and a run scored for Muldrow.

In Saturday’s win over Mounds, Dean got her second no-hitter of the three-day event as she fanned six Lady Golden Eagles in four innings.

A two-run first inning was more than enough run support for Dean. A pair of three-run innings in the second and third innings and a two-run fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Tune was 2-for-3 with two runs scored, while Young was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored for Muldrow.

In Saturday’s loss to Sequoyah-Tahlequah, the Lady Indians walked it off with a pair of runs in the fifth inning as the time limit got reached to end the game.

In defeat, Amaya Duran was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI, while Tune doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Muldrow. Young suffered the loss. In the loss to Checotah, the Lady Wildcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings. The Lady Bulldogs (0-2 in district play) cut their deficit to 4-1 after three innings and 6-4 after five innings but got no closer.

In defeat, Amarie Duran was 2-for-4 for Muldrow.

Young suffered the loss, despite fanning three batters in 2.2 innings. Amaya Duran went the next 1.1 innings, then Dean finished the game.
