Central Lady Tigers end last week with two victories
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor

The Central Lady Tigers softball team ended last week on a high note as they won their final two games of that seven- day period, beating county rival Roland 8-2 on Thursday in Roland and doubling Keota 4-2 on Friday.

It was a rough start to the week, however, as the Lady Tigers lost a road 14-0 contest to District 2A-11 rival Pocola on Aug. 19 and lost in a road three-way at Porum on Aug. 20 — 9-1 to Kiowa and 7-6 to the host Lady Panthers.

In the victory over Roland, the Lady Tigers (3-6) broke a 2-all tie after an inning with a two-run third inning, a single run in the fifth inning and a three-run sixth inning.

For the game, Ayr-land Jiles was 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs batted in and a run scored for Central.

Brenliegh Allen got her first win of the season, throwing a fivehitter.

In the victory over Keota, the Lady Tigers broke a 2-all tie with a two-run fifth inning on back-to-back two-out, RBI doubles by Allen and Allie Harris.

For the game, Allen hit an RBI double and scored once, Harris hit an RBI double and Jiles doubled and scored twice for Central.

Allen (2-5) got the win, striking out four batters in seven innings.

In the loss to Pocola, Pocola pitcher Allysa Parker threw a fourinning one-hitter with nine strikeouts.

Jiles got a single to be the only hit for the Lady Tigers (0-1 in district play).

Allen suffered the loss, though she recorded a strikeout in three innings.

In the loss to Kiowa, the Cowgirls broke a 1-all tie with a three-run third inning and a fiverun fourth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Jiles doubled for Central. Jiles (11) suffered her first loss of the season, despite recording three strikeouts in 3.1 innings.

In the loss to host Porum, the Lady Panthers broke a 3-all tie with a run in the third inning and three runs in the fourth inning for a 7-3 lead.

The Lady Tigers tried to mount a comeback, scoring three runs in the fifth inning but fell short.

In defeat, Jiles was 3-for-3 with two runs scored, Brianna Taylor was 3-for-3 with a run scored, Harris was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, Allen doubled with an RBI and a run scored and Camryn Gilliam doubled with an RBI for Central.

Allen took the loss, although she fanned two batters in four innings.
