Sallisaw man facing two counts of child sexual abuse
By AMIE CATO-REMER EDITOR

A Sallisaw man is charged with two felony counts of child sexual abuse stemming from two separate incidents, one in 2018 and the other in 2023, according to police reports.

Hector Milian, 62, was charged on July 9 in Sequoyah County District Court and a warrant was issued for his arrest the same day. He received a $10,000 bond and is now scheduled for an October 9 felony disposition docket.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case, the alleged victim was interviewed in June regarding sexual allegations between the child and Milian. The child, now under the age of 13, alleged while staying and/or with Milian that he’d allegedly touched the child inappropriately on more than one occasion.

The child alleged the first time was at Milian’s residence in Sallisaw, between May and June 2018, when the child was under the age of 7.

In the summer of 2023, the child alleged while swimming at Lake Tenkiller, Milian allegedly touched the child inappropriately, putting his hand down the child’s bathing suit.

The alleged victim said that Milian told them not to tell anyone “or he would go to jail,” according to the affidavit. The child said after watching a documentary over child abuse, they decided to come forward and tell their parent that Miliam had allegedly been touching them.

On June 5, Milian reportedly agreed to an interview with officers at the Sallisaw Police Department. When confronted about the incident at the lake, Milian told police that the child liked to horse around and sometimes “people misinterpret things.”

Milian then stated that the interview had “went too far” and he was “going to need a lawyer for this,” according to the affidavit.

District Attorney Jack Thorp said each charge is punishable by imprisonment in the custody of the Department of Corrections not exceeding life imprisonment, or in a county jail not exceeding one year, or by a fine of not less than $500 nor more than $5,000, or both fine and imprisonment.
