Funeral services for Jerry Dale Johnson, 86, of Muldrow, were held at 10 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, 2024, at Lee’s Chapel Assembly of God Church in Muldrow. Burial followed at Lee’s Chapel Cemetery in Muldrow under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mr. Johnson was born on July 5, 1938, in Muldrow, to Inez Harvell and Walter J. Johnson. He died on Monday, Aug. 5, 2024, at his home in Muldrow.
He was married to Brenda Hallum for 35 years. He worked in the oilfields of Oklahoma in his younger years, and was most recently employed at Sequoyah County District 1. He was an avid OU Sooners fan.
Survivors are wife, Brenda Johnson of the home; one daughter, Christi Benavidez of Collinsville; one son, Jake Carter of Skiatook; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Billye Ruth Mathis of Roland and Linda Stiles and Steve of Fort Smith, Ark.; one brother, Joel R. Taylor of Muldrow; one sister-in-law, Joan Taylor of Muldrow; two brothers-in-law, R.G. Hallum and Mark Hallum and Jennifer, all of Muldrow; and many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, John Taylor; three sisters, Kaye Corbell, Wanda Hanes and Billie Kent; three brothers-in-law, JT Mathis, Jay Corbell and Jerry Kent; and a sister-inlaw, Deborah Hallum.
Active pallbearers were his nephews and Steve Stiles.
Honorary pallbearers were past and present employees of Sequoyah County District 1.
