School will be starting soon, and many kids have to be ready and prepared before the year starts. A part of being prepared means having the supplies they need.
With some school supplies and clothes being a bit expensive, it can be hard on the wallet.
Worry not, because a break is coming. The annual taxfree weekend is coming to Oklahoma and Arkansas, August 2 to 4.
During that weekend, taxes will be taken off certain items for back-to-school shopping, such as pens, pencils, notebooks, binders, backpacks, folders, erasers and much more.
This also includes the notso basic school supplies, like certain technological needs and some art supplies.
Most teachers are asking that students have headphones for the computer lab, while many others are asking for glue, crayons, markers, colored pencils, or all of those items.
Children grow fast and out of nowhere, so chances are that shirts, pants or other clothing options are a bit too small, and that it could be time to buy more.
If they can still fit into that one pair of pants you purchased them a year ago, that’s great!
However, they’ve probably been worn out because children like to play hard. If that’s not the case, this could be a chance to get them clothing that they’ll grow into.
To fight against the constant growth spurts, refreshing a wardrobe is a must.
As a warning, clothing and footwear have a different rule when it comes to tax-free weekend. As long as both clothing and shoes are under a $100 purchase, they will be exempt from taxes.
So if you want a break from taxes on items like these, go back-to-school shopping.
Many people use this weekend to get the items that their children will need for the upcoming school year.
It’s bound to be busier on this specific weekend than some, so be careful on the roads, even if you are not doing any back-to-school shopping.
