The Sequoyah County Commissioners at their weekly Monday meeting on July 8 approved renewing the county’s agreement with Agent & Mallory-Martin Funeral Service related to indigent burials.
From time to time, instances arise when there is not a family member available to bear the financial responsibility related to a death within the county. In such situations, responsibility for dealing with indigent remains falls to the county.
The commissioners approved renewing the agreement, contingent upon approval by assistant district attorney Andy Williams.
In other business, the commissioners approved the purchase of two 2024 Ford Police Responder trucks for the sheriff ’s office. The trucks are intended to be purchased on the state contract.
The commissioners also accepted officers’ annual reports and estimates of needs for county offices, and approved a resale financial statement for Fiscal Year 2024 for the county treasurer.
The commissioners also approved appointments for:
• Tina Johnson and Julia McGhee as requisitioning officers for Sequoyah County Health Department
• Jennifer Wiley and Christina Gaytan as receiving officers for Sequoyah County Health Department
• Tricia Wall as receiving officer for Oklahoma State University Extension
The commissioners meet at 10 a.m. Mondays in the courthouse annex.
