Contracts and memberships renewed for 2024-25 school year
In Muldrow School Board meeting

The Muldrow Board of Education met on June 10 where they voted to renew several contracts for the 2024-25 school year, and made two new hires, addressing employment vacancies in the school district.

The board voted to go into an executive session at 6:15 p.m. to discuss the employment of certified and noncertified personnel for the 2024-25 school year, and returned to open session less than 15 minutes later.

Upon reconvening, the board unanimously voted to approve temporary employment contracts for Ashley McLaughlin as an elementary teacher, and Nick Yoakum as security personnel.

In addition, a retention stipend of $1,000 was approved for all certified and non-certified staff returning for the 2024-25 school year.

The board accepted resignations from Mariela Esparza and Gary Hixon and approved Janice Gibson, Janelle Tyler and Mary Peevy as substitutes Clifta Fugett, during the Superintendent’s Report, discussed legislation for 2024-25, the End of Year Attendance Report and the Expenditures/ Revenue for the current year.

New school superintendent Leon Ashlock was approved as purchasing agent for the Muldrow Independent School District for all federal programs including E-Rate, Child Nutrition, Designated Custodian for the General Fund, Building Fund, Child Nutrition Fund, Bond Fund, Activity Fund, All State Programs, and all other school programs and activities not listed.

The board also unanimously approved to renew contracts and memberships with Oklahoma School Assurance Group as the school district’s workers compensation provider and OPSUCA as unemployment provider; and Apptegy as the school district’s website provider.

Membership with Oklahoma School Advisory Council, Junior Achievement of Oklahoma, Inc., and Oklahoma School Insurance Group for the District’s property insurance coverage were also given the green light; along with Cooperative Council for Oklahoma School Administration to participate in the district level services program.

Also approved during the meeting were the following:

• Appointments and authorizations for 202425

• Removal of 2018-19 school records with permission to destroy

• Transfer of Refund/ Reimbursement, Petty Cash and Driver’s Ed monies to the GF for 2024-25

• Salary schedule for 2024-25 school year

• Return to School Plan to accommodate requirements for ESSER III funding This news story is based on the unofficial minutes from the board meeting and could be in error if the minutes are changed prior to adoption.
