Central track athletes qualify for state at regional meet

OKEMAH — Several Central High School track athletes qualified for last weekend’s Class 2A State Meet, which took place at Oklahoma City Western Heights High School, by placing high enough at last week’s regional meet, which took place April 29.

At the Class 2A Regional Meet, only one Tiger earned an automatic bid to state as Braxin Goodson was regional runner-up in the 800-meter run (2:09.14) and the 300-meter hurdles (43.92 seconds).

One Tiger individual and one Tiger relay team got at-large bids as Zach Comer’s fourth-place throw of 123-1 in the discus got him an at-large bid, while the foursome of Gavin Randolph, Dillon Miller, Nathan Vann and Goodson got an atlarge bid to state with their fifth-place finish in the 1,600-meter relay (3:43.3).

On the girls’ side, one Lady Tiger relay got an at-large bid to state as the 3,200-meter relay team of Cambree Bair, Paris Campbell, Gracie Thompson and Avery Warner made state with a time of 11:23.6, which placed them fifth in last week’s regional meet.

As for other Tigers individuals, Randolph was fifth (54.24 seconds) and Bryce Chandler-Eisman was 34th (1:05.45) in the 400-meter dash, Cole Holcomb was seventh (40-3) and Tyler Busch was eighth (40-1) in the shot put, Miller was 25th in the 100-meter dash (12.53) and Chandler-Eisman was 37th in the 200-meter dash (26.72).

As for Tigers’ relay teams, Miller, Randolph, Vann and Goodson were fifth in the 800-meter relay (1:37.94).

As for the Lady Tigers individually, the highest finisher was Koda Robbins, who was fifth in the 400-meter dash (1:04.4) and 13th in the long jump (13-6).

As for other Lady Tigers, Campbell was 11th in the 400-meter dash (1:07.59), Ryleigh Pierce was 13th (7:08.48) and Rileigh Ford was 21st (7:50.45) in the 1,600-meter run, Alyvia Warner was 13th in the 300-meter hurdles (1:03.08), Ayrland Jiles was 15th (30.3 seconds) and Keeley Poindexter was 17th (30.61) in the 200-meter dash, Jhaselyn Gonzalez was 15th in the 100-meter hurdles (20.63) 18th in the long jump (130.5), Poindexter was 21st in the discus (656) and 28th in the shot put (22-11) and Jiles was 21st (14.7), Kinly Lovell was 24th (14.82) and Polina Lukasa was 40th (20.82) in the 100-meter dash.

As for other Lady Tiger relay teams, Campbell, Robbins, Avery Warner and Thompson were fifth in the 1,600-meter relay (4:33.25), Bair, Campbell, Robbins and Avery Warner were seventh in the 800-meter relay (1:55.44) and Bair, Thompson, Warner and Lovell were eighth in the 400-meter relay (56.68 seconds).
