Roland Lady Rangers go 2-5 last week
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor,

The Roland Lady Rangers went 2-5 last week on the slow-pitch softball diamond.

The Lady Rangers started the week with a 7-5 home run over Keota on April 8, then split their four games in Thursday’s Checotah Tournament — beating Sallisaw 8-7 after losing 4-3 to Muldrow, 12-2 to Fort Gibson and 20-0 to Oktaha.

On Friday, they lost both of their home games, losing 4-1 to Muldrow and 8-0 to Vian.

In the win over Keota, the Lady Rangers (4-12) rallied from a 5-0 second-inning deficit with a three-run third inning, a three-run fifth inning and a single run in the sixth inning.

For the game, Addyson Clark doubled with two runs batted in, while Emily Daws doubled with three RBIs and a run scored for Roland. Kiah Pettit got the win, going the first six innings, with Kynlei Earnhart tossing a scoreless seventh inning to get the save.

In the win over Sallisaw, a six-run fourth inning put the Lady Rangers ahead for good at 7-4. An insurance run in the sixth inning made it 8-4, which proved to be crucial.

The Lady Diamonds made a sixth-inning rally to cut the deficit to 8-7, but once the inning ended the game did as well due to time limit.

For the game, Kynlei Earnhart was 4-for-4 with a run scored, Pettit and Carlie Monroe were each 3-for-3 with a run scored, Jaydance Bean and Aubrey Price each were 3-for-3, Lilly Cole was 3-for-4 with a run scored and Raine Honeycutt doubled for Roland.

In the tournament loss to Muldrow, a tworun rally in the sixth inning lifted the Lady Bulldogs as Ashley Price’s RBI single tied the game at 3-all, then Danica Tune’s sacrifice fly scored Ryah Keenan with the game-winning run.

In defeat, Earnhart was 2-for-3 with a run scored, while Kyleigh Knapp was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored for Roland. Pettit took the loss.

In the loss to Fort Gibson, Roland only scored twice against Fort Gibson.

In the loss to Oktaha, Oktaha pitcher Aubree Davis tossed a three-inning no-hitter, while her offense scored 14 runs in the first inning to put away the game. Earnhart took the loss.

In Friday’s home loss to Muldrow, the Lady Bulldogs broke a 1-all tie with a three-run sixth inning.

In defeat, Bean was 2-for-3 for Roland. Pettit took the loss.

In Friday’s home loss to Vian, Vian pitcher Rayleigh Terrill tossed a three-hitter, with the only hits being a double by Clark and singles by Earnhart and Pettit.

The Lady Rangers were slated to play at Fort Gibson on Monday and entertain Gore on Tuesday before playing in the Class 5A District Tournament on Thursday at Stilwell, where they will open with a 10 a.m. game against host Stilwell. If they win the district tournament, the Lady Rangers will advance to next week’s Class 5A Regional Tournament at a site and time yet to be determined.
