Muldrow Bulldogs wins Cameron Osborne Invitational after sweeping Checotah

The Muldrow Bulldogs baseball team won the 2024 Cameron Osborne Invitational last weekend in Wetumka as they defeated New Lima 12-0 on Friday and Sasawka 16-4 on Saturday.

The week got started on the right paws as the ’Dogs swept district foe Checotah, winning 3-2 at home April 1 and taking a 7-5 road victory April 2.

In the win over Sasakwa, after the Vikings cut their deficit to 4-1 after an inning, the Bulldogs put away the game with an 11-run second inning and a single run in the third inning to put the contest into run-rule status.

For the game, Jacob Gregory was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored, Colton Pulliam was 2-for-3 with a triple, a home run, six runs batted in and two runs scored, Jonah Claborn was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored, Mark Sharp was 2-for-3 with a solo homer and five RBIs and Drew Prewett was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored for Muldrow.

Seminole State College signee Reid Sutton (3-2) got the complete three-inning victory as he threw a three-hitter with four strikeouts.

In the victory over New Lima, Pulliam (40) threw a one-hitter with four Ks.

The ’Dogs scored three runs in the first inning, eight runs in the second inning and a single run in the third inning to put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Pulliam was 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBIs, Wyatt Prewett was 2-for-2 with a triple and an RBI, Drew Prewett tripled with an RBI and a run scored and Sutton tripled with three RBIs and three runs scored for Muldrow.

In the home win over Checotah, after the Wildcats scored once in the sixth inning to tie the game at 1-all to force extra innings and take a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning, the Bulldogs (12-6 overall, 5-3 in district play) snatched away the win from the jaws of defeat with a two-run eighth inning, thanks to a sacrifice fly by Sutton and Claborn’s walk-off, RBI single with one out.

For the game, Sutton singled with an RBI and a run scored, Claborn hit the game-winning RBI single and Gregory singled and scored once for Muldrow.

Claborn (4-3) got the win in relief, pitching the eighth inning with two strikeouts. Sutton started and went the first seven innings with 16 Ks.

In the road victory over Checotah, the ’Dogs scored four runs in the fourth inning to take the lead for good at 5-3 after four innings.

For the game, Pulliam was 2-for-4 with a run scored, while Gabe Miller was 2-for-3 with a double, a run batted in and a run scored for Muldrow.

Claborn got the win in relief for the second straight day, going the final 3.2 innings with three strikeouts. Pulliam started and went the first 3.1 innings with three Ks.

After playing a Monday road game at Crowder and a Tuesday road game at Panama, the Bulldogs will travel for a 10 a.m. Thursday game at Glenpool, then play a road district doubleheader at 3 p.m. Monday at Broken Bow.
