Muldrow Bulldogs baseball team goes 1-3 at home over Spring Break
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor,

The Muldrow Bulldogs baseball team went 1-3 at home during Spring Break last week, with the lone win a 4-0 win over Gore on March 19.

On March 18, the ’Dogs lost both of their home games — losing 11-2 to Vian and 3-2 to Central. In the first game on March 19, McCurtain beat Muldrow 6-4 in a battle of Bulldogs.

In the win over Gore, pitcher Colton Pulliam (2-0) pitched a one-hitter with eight strikeouts.

The Bulldogs (4-6) scored twice in the first inning and single runs in the second and third innings for a 4-0 lead after three innings.

For the game, Jonah Claborn singled with a run batted in, Ben Cowan singled and scored once, Drew Prewett singled, Reid Sutton scored once and Pulliam scored once with an RBI for the ’Dogs.

In the loss to Vian, the Wolverines broke a 1-all tie with a two-run third inning, a threerun fourth inning and a five-run fifth inning for an 11-1 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

In defeat, Reid Sutton, a Seminole State College signee, was 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored for the Bulldogs.

Sutton (1-2) took the loss, going the first four innings with nine strikeouts. Hayden McKinster got the first out in the fifth inning by strikeout, then Pulliam got the final two outs — one by strikeout.

In the loss to Central, the Tigers snatched the win from the jaws of defeat with a two-run fifth inning.

In defeat, Sutton was 3-for-3 with a double and a run scored, while Gabe Miller was 2-for-3 for Muldrow.

Jonah Claborn (1-2) took the loss, despite fanning nine batters in 4.2 innings. Sutton got the final out by strikeout.

After the ’Dogs returned to district play early this week against Stigler — there on Monday and at home on Tuesday — they will play in the Roland Wood Bat Tournament on Thursday against Keys at 2 p.m. and Gore at 4 p.m. How they do on Thursday will determine who and when they will play on Saturday.
