Central baseball teams suffers losses to Porum, Dewar, Spiro last week
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor,

The Central Tigers baseball team did not enter Spring Break on a high note as they went 0-3 last week, losing a 4-3 road game to Porum on March 11, then fell 13-5 to Dewar at home March 12 and ended the week with a heartbreaking 6-5 loss to Spiro at home Saturday afternoon.

Thursday’s road game at Howe was rained out.

In the loss to Porum, the Panthers tied the game at 3-all with a threerun sixth inning, then walked it off in the eighth inning.

In defeat, Aiden Sainer was 2-for-4 with a run scored for the Tigers (1-3).

Waylen Campbell (01) took the loss in relief. Connor Walters started and went 7.1 innings with 10 strikeouts.

In the loss to Dewar, the Dragons rallied from a 3-2 deficit after four innings with a six-run fifth inning to take an 8-3 lead. After the Tigers cut their deficit to 8-5 in their half of the fifth inning, Dewar put away the game with a run in the sixth inning and four runs in the seventh inning.

In defeat, Cade Tucker was 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs batted in and two runs scored for Central.

Bo Locust (0-1) took the loss, despite fanning six batters in 4.1 innings. Campbell went the final 2.2 innings with two Ks.

In the loss to Spiro, Spiro’s Corbin Miller hit an RBI single in the seventh inning to break a 5-all tie.

A three-run third inning for the Tigers rallied them from a 4-2 deficit to a 5-4 lead, only to see the Bulldogs tie the game in the fifth inning and win it in the seventh inning.

In defeat, Mekko Ariza was 2-for-4 with two runs scored, Connor Green had two RBIs, Rykar Miller singled with two RBIs and Connor Walters had an RBI for Central.

Miller (0-1) suffered in relief, going the final four innings with three strikeouts. Hardy Buzzard started and went the first three innings with two Ks.

After the Tigers were scheduled to play in a road three-way Monday at Muldrow with Vian, they will play in the threeday Ketchum Hardball Classic, which runs today through Friday.
