Superintendent’s and other resignations accepted

In Muldrow School Board meeting

The Muldrow Board of Education accepted several resignations during their regular monthly board meeting on Feb. 12, including the resignation of school superintendent Clifta Fugett.

According to meeting minutes, resignations were also accepted from Brenda Colina, Debbie Crabtree, Marty Fugett, Janice Gibson, Diane Larcade, Paul Larcade, Lorri Matlock, Janelle Tyler and Betty Warburton.

Substitute teachers approved for the 2023-24 school year were Hannah Baker and Brittany Kaderly.

During the Superintendent’s Report, Clifta Fugett discussed the February calendar, basketball playoff assignments, Legislative updates, spring sports schedules, and the National School Board Convention, which will be April 5-8.

At 6:30 p.m. a motion was made to go into executive session to allow the board to discuss the employment, hiring, appointment, promotion, demotion, disciplining or resignation of any individual salaried public officer or employee. They returned to open session at 7:13 p.m.

Leah Ridenour was then hired as an elementary teacher and Monica Sessums as a teacher assistant, both on a temporary contract for the 2023-24 school year.

A Salary Stipend of $500 for the District Teacher of the Year was also unanimously approved.

Bus bids were received from Holt Truck Centers for $158,957; Ross Transportation for $152,809; and Thomas Built Buses for $166,580. The board unanimously accepted the bid from Holt Truck Centers.

The following Consent Agenda items were also approved: 2023-24 General Fund encumbrances 424 to 453 for $204,804.57; Building Fund encumbrances 24 to 27 for $31,703.00; General Fund Payroll encumbrance 50196 for $403.69.

Janelle Tyler and Renee Claborn presented the Career Fair that was held on the High School campus on Feb. 7; and following a motion, the board members voted to change the April board meeting date from April 8 to April 15.

Also approved for the 2024-25 shool year were:

• Leah Agent as an adjunct instructor for Anatomy and Physiology delivered at ICTC

• Allowing math and science courses delivered at ICTC to be counted for graduation credit

• Renewal contract with Oklahoma Teachers Leader Evaluation provided by Employee Evaluation Systems, Inc.

• Picture contract renewed with Ruth Kelly Studio.

The 2023-24 Audit Contract and Engagement Letter with Bledsoe, Hewett & Gullekson Auditing Firm was also unanimously approved.

Fund transfers were approved from the Elementary School Activity Account, Middle School Activity Account and High School Activity Account into the Sew What/Muldrow Makers Account and from the High School Cheer Account into the Beta Club Account.

Eastside Freewill Baptist Church was given the green light to use one of the school’s buses on April 6 and 7, 2024, to go to Branson, Mo. contingent upon them providing insurance.
