Muldrow product helps JBU men qualify for SAC Tournament
By JOHN BROWN UNIVERSITY MEDIA RELATIONS,

Powered by five triples from junior Drew Miller, the John Brown University Golden Eagles poured in 14 treys and erased an early hole in a comeback 78-69 win over Texas Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon at Bill George Arena in Siloam Springs, Ark., to clinch a spot in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament.

Miller scored a gamehigh 21 points, the sixth time scoring 20 in his John Brown career, and the Golden Eagles (14-11, 12-8 SAC play) improved to 7-2 this season when crossing into double-digit 3-point territory.

John Brown is now 9-3 in Siloam Springs.

Sophomore Malachi Reeves contributed 17 points on 3-of-5 shooting behind the arc and passed out five assists. Senior Tyren Collins from Muldrow made 3-of-6 from long range and finished with 11 points, as did sophomore Josh Stewart.

The Golden Eagles lost Thursday night’s road game, although boasting four Golden Eagles in double-figure scoring, including a team-high 17 points from junior Drew Miller, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma shot 46 percent floor and took advantage of a slow start to beat the Golden Eagles 82-59 at Drover Fieldhouse. in Chickasha.

Miller scored three of his five field goals from behind the arc and hit all four chances at the line for John Brown. Reeves drained 6-of-18 from the field to contribute 16 points and eight rebounds, while sophomores Stewart and Tristan Batie each contributed 11 points apiece off the bench. Batie’s total was a careerhigh effort. Collins had no points but grabbed three rebounds.

The Golden Eagles will return to action at 8 p.m. Thursday with a road game against Southwestern Christian at Pickens-Springer Gymnasium in Bethany.
