Muldrow teams sweep Checotah, split at Eufaula, suffer road losses to Stilwell; Class of 2024 HoF inducted

Last week was a busy week basketball for the Muldrow High School teams as they swept their home NOAA Conference games against Checotah on Friday night at Roger Sharp Activity Center, split their Saturday night road games at Eufaula and started the week by suffering two conference road losses to Stilwell on Feb. 6.

The Lady Bulldogs opened Friday night’s Checotah home games with a 48-45 win, then the ’Dogs tamed the ’ Cats 50-48 in overtime.

The following night, the Bulldogs defeated the Ironheads 38-32, but the Lady Bulldogs lost 35-28 to the Lady Ironheads.

The week started by the Lady Bulldogs losing 60-47 and the ’Dogs falling 64-43 to Stilwell.

In the girls’ win over Checotah, the Lady Bulldogs (15-7 overall, 7-3 in NOAA Conference play) had a trio of players hit for double figures, led by Cailey Grinstead’s gamehigh 14 points, followed by Makynlee Morton’s 12 points and Katelyn Moore;s 11 points. Claire Tabor scored five points, while Maysi Fields, London Hardin, Kennady Moore and Kayla Ellingberg had two points apiece.

At halftime of the girls’ game, the 2024 Muldrow High School Athletic Hall of Fame inductees were recognized — Gary Treat, Ron Rogers and Payne Hall.

In the boys’ win over Checotah, the ’Dogs (11-11, 5-5) were led by Teaguen Collins with a game-high 16 points and Parker Sevenstar with 14 points. Jesse Kilinc had eight points, followed by Trenton Irvan and Kenoy Releford with three points each and Jaxson Anstine, Kashan Bukhari and Deshawn Wilson with two points apiece.

In the boys’ win over Eufaula, Bukhari scored a game-high 11 points and Collins added 10 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Sevenstar with seven points, Anstine and Hayden Bullock with three points each and Wilson and Kilinc with two points apiece.

In the girls’ loss to Eufaula, Grinstead scored 10 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Ellingberg with eight points, Tabor, Maysi Fields and Jensi Fields with three points each and Katelynn Moore with a free throw.

In the girls’ loss to Stilwell, Tabor scored 17 points and Katelynn Moore had 10 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Kennady Moore with six points, Jensi Fields with five points, Grinstead with four points, Ellingberg and Chloee Clark with two points each and Hardin with a free throw. Senior Kennedi “Kiki” Wight did not play in any of last week’s games after suffering an injury in the Roland home game on Feb. 2 at Roger Sharp Activity Center.

In the boys’ loss to Stilwell, Sevenstar and Collins each scored 10 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Wilson with six points, Releford and Jamauree Palmer with four points each, Anstine and Bullock each with three points and Bukhari with two points.

After the Muldrow teams had Senior Night on Tuesday vs. Inola, the Lady Bulldogs and ’Dogs will welcome Tulsa Central to Roger Sharp Activity Center for the Class 4A District Tournament, with games at 6 and 7:30 p.m. Friday.
