More Bible Study with Prayer in 2024

More Bible Study with Prayer in 2024
By Shirley R. Watts,

The Church must commit to more Bible Study and prayer today. The Church needs to know the Word of God and needs to know how to pray! The Church is powerless without His Word to guide us, and powerless without prevailing prayer. We have too many “turkey” Christians and not enough “eagle” Christians. You are one of the two!

If the Christian is to glorify God in this life, you must be in His Word. God’s Word is where you learn who God is and what God expects from you. You were saved because His Word was shared with you and you prayed and placed your faith in Him. His Word must be studied by every Christian. There is no substitute for His Word or prayer in your life!

Bible Study

“For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Heb. 4:12).

God’s Word is powerful! It penetrates and will expose your inner heart. The Word discerns! His Word judges you! God uses His Word to show you the sin and unbelief in your hearts! Unless you study His Word, you will become a deformed Christian… very carnal (turkey)! You need His Word daily, not weekly, monthly or once a year.

His Word must be hidden in your heart. Why? That you might not sin against God! “Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You” (Ps. 119:11). You must take His Word into your heart and your heart will become more dedicated to Him and His will, therefore to sin is not something you want to do, and you are reminded of His promise. The more you are in His Word, the more like Jesus you will become. The more you will see yourself!

The study of God’s Word must be your desire and you must delight in it. His Word is a treasure! You find hope in His Word! You see not only today, but what your future holds!

If you are in a backslidden life style…living in sin and not in God’s will, His Word can bring revival to your heart. “My soul clings to the dust; revive me according to Your word” (Ps. 119:25).

We must trust His Word and obey it! We can do this when we read and study His Word with prayer, understanding it in the power of His Holy Spirit (Rom. 8:26-27).

“I rejoice at Your word As one. who finds great treasure” (Ps. 119:162).

Prayer

Prayer “is communion with God” Prayer must be made as you study His Word. There is power in right praying. We are to “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God” (Phil 4:6).

The promises of God are released through prayer. The prayer of praise brings God immediately into your life. One should always keep the line open, and never let it be cluttered with un-confessed sin. Sin you are aware of but refuse to confess!

Prayer is the power that allows you to receive all the blessings of God that He has designed for you to enjoy! Yes, blessings set aside just for you!

“Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us… And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him” (1 John 5:14-15).

The more you pray the greater the fellowship with the Lord. God loves each of His children and desires to bless us. Start your day with prayer and have prayer on your heart throughout the day and always close the day with prayer.

Let us surrender to God, trust in His Word and pray about all things. Prayer is addressed to God the Father, in the Name of Jesus Christ the Son and in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Make a commitment to study His Word, and praying more in 2024! Amen!
