Telling This Generation – Today!

Telling This Generation – Today!
By Shirley R. Watts,

What God Has Done

“We will not hide them from their children, Telling to the generation to come the praises of the Lord, And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done” (Ps 78:4).

History—Legacies— Memories As I look back over the past year and years, I see things that should have been different, things that didn’t glorify God and things that I should have done, but didn’t. 2024 is another opportunity! We all want to make it a better year and we start off and then plans slip our minds and before long the New Year is here again. Last year is history!

History

History is “the recorded narrative of past events.” This year is ends with the celebration of the Birth of Christ, our Savior Jesus Christ, who came into the world to seek and to save the lost…that is you and me! All who call upon Him, believe in Him can have forgiveness and protection all the days of your life and all eternity. This is recorded history and a fact! He lived, He died for your sin, He was buried and He was raised from the dead the third day! Yes, it happened over 2000 years ago and lives today in the lives of all born again Believers. He still saves, and desires to save all who will believe. This is His-story! And this is our message to the next generation. John 3:16 We are one year closer to the Rapture of the Church. Are you ready? This time next year will be history! What will be recorded about you for the next generation?

“One generation shall praise Your works to another, And shall declare Your mighty acts” (Ps 145:4).

Legacy

A legacy is “something left by will, handed down from an ancestor.” What will you leave to your children, family and the next generation?

Many leave things of the world, but it will all fade away. We must leave a “spiritual legacy” for the future generations. This will never fade away, but lives forever. This generation and future generations need the Word of God taught to them now. We can help them even after we go to the grave. The ways things are today, they will not be able to speak of Christ the way we do. Evil surrounds us, but they will face much greater evil. They are not ready! We must leave the legacy of prayer, His Word and our love for Him so they will be able to be saved.

What does your legacy… your “will” look like today for the next generation?

“That the generation to come might know them, The children who would be born, That they may arise and declare them to their children, (Ps. 78:6).

Memories

A memory is “the act of remembering something that is past, all that one can recall. It is being remembered! It is to bring back a memory to the mind with affection and respect.”

Will you be remembered? Yes, but for what will you be remembered? What will your children and grandchildren, friends, enemies remember about you? Will it be your love and commitment to God? Will it be your salvation testimony? Will you leave His Word? What will the next generation remember about you?

2024 may be last opportunity! Let us make “spiritual memories” for all who know us. Let them see Christ in us. As they recall our name, will it be our love for Christ? This is what the world needs today and will need in the future.

“Tell your children about it, Let your children tell their children, And their children another generation” (Joel 1:3).

Conclusion

We are making history, leaving a legacy and making memories today. May it be the best year yet!

What can we do? We can pray more, read His Word more, worship Him, and share Jesus more, declaring Him to new people, especially the next generation. We can show love and increase our faith in God. We can change our attitudes, actions and words toward one another.

We can today make a difference in the future! Teach the next generation! Amen! History-Legacies-Memories do and will make a difference!.

May God Bless You, Happy New Year
