Muldrow Bulldog senior athlete Reid Sutton excels in both football and baseball, but it’s the latter where he sees his future taking shape.

Sutton signed a baseball letter of intent with Seminole State College in a signing ceremony Friday afternoon at Roger Sharp Activity Center.

“I’m very excited,” Sutton said about the chance to play baseball at the next level. “I’ve always played baseball my whole life. My family has a baseball background, so that was where my first love was — baseball. I’m looking forward to playing at the next level.”

“I’m so excited for Reid,” Muldrow baseball coach Zane Rose said. “This has been his dream. You won’t find a harder worker. He’s more of a student of the game — more of a baseball junkie really. He does everything right. He comes from a good family. I’m just overjoyed for him.”

Two things factored into Sutton’s decision to sign a baseball letter of intent with the Seminole State Trojans.

“They have great facilities,” the senior Muldrow Bulldog student-athlete said. “The coaching staff is great. That’s what factored in the most. It’s close.”

Sutton isn’t sure just how fast he will be making a difference for the Trojans.

“I’m not really sure what the recruitment class is like,” he said. “I hope I can start contributing immediately. That’s the plan anyway. I’m just going to go there and work hard to get the job done.”

“He’s right-handed and bats from the left side,” Rose said. “He’s got a great swing. You can’t have enough Reid Suttons.”

Rose is pretty positive that in about two years, Sutton will be signing another baseball letter of intent — this time with a Division I four-year school for his final two collegiate years of playing on the diamond.

“I feel we’re going to be doing this in a couple of years when he signs with a Division I school,” he said. “He’s that type of kid.”
