Central Lady Tigers see season come to a close with regional losses to Hartshorne, Colcord
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor,

After ending regular season with home win over Heavener

The Central Lady Tigers saw their 2023 fast-pitch softball season come to a close last Wednesday with two losses in the Class 2A Regional Tournament in McAlester — losing 9-1 to Hartshorne and 3-1 to Colcord.

The Lady Tigers ended the regular season on a high note with a 17-12 home win over Heavener on Sept. 18.

The Lady Tigers finished the season at 8-24.

In the regular-season finale win over Heavener, the Lady Tigers broke a 12-all tie with a five-run sixth inning for the win.

For the game, Avery Warner was 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored, Allie Harris was 2-for-4 with a triple, four RBIs and three runs scored, Melanie Caughman was 2-for-4 with a double, four RBIs and two runs scored, Cheyenne Busch was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored and Rylee Rowland doubled with three runs scored and an RBI.

Ayrland Jiles got the win, fanning 11 batters in seven innings.

In the regional-tournament loss to Hartshorne, the Lady Miners scored twice in the first inning and three runs in the second inning for a 5-0 lead.

The lone run for the Lady Tigers got their lone run in the top of the fourth inning on Brianna Taylor’s RBI triple, scoring Harris, to cut the deficit to 5-1.

However, Hartshorne put the game in runrule status with a single run in the fourth inning and a three-run fifth inning.

In defeat, Avery Warner was 2-for-3, Taylor hit an RBI triple, Harris singled and scored the lone run and Jiles singled.

Jiles took the loss, despite getting two strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

In the loss to Colcord, the Lady Hornets jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening inning.

The Lady Tigers scored their only run in the fifth inning as Jiles scored on a wild pitch to cut the deficit to 2-1.

However, Colcord scored a big insurance run in the sixth inning to prevail.

In defeat, Jiles was 2-for-3 with a double, Harris tripled and Rowland singled.

Jiles suffered the loss, despite recording 14Ks.
