Roland Lady Rangers sweep Okmulgee, but fall twice to Vian

The Roland Lady Rangers capped their homecoming week’s worth of games with a home doubleheader sweep of the Okmulgee Lady Bulldogs by scores of 9-1 and 11-1 after the games were rained out Sept. 12.

On Sept. 11 at Vian’s Armstrong Park, the Lady Rangers dropped a pair of games to the host Vian Lady Wolverines by scores of 4-1 and 13-1.

Roland’s home threeway Thursday with Muldrow and Vian was canceled due to homecoming festivities.

In last Wednesday’s opener against Okmulgee, Roland scored twice in the first inning and four runs in the third inning for a 6-0 lead after three innings and never looked back.

For the game, Emily Daws was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and a run scored, Kynlei Earnhart was 2-for-4 with with a run scored, Scarlett Qualls was 2-for-4 with three runs scored and Addyson Clark doubled with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Daws (7-11) got the win, striking out nine batters in seven innings and throwing a five-hitter.

In the nightcap, after the Lady Bulldogs scored once in the top of the first inning, the Lady Rangers scored six runs in the first inning, once in the second inning and four runs in the third inning to put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Scarlett Qualls was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored, Sara Qualls, Jaydance Bean and Aubriana Gragg each doubled with an RBI and a run scored, while Clark doubled with three RBIs and a run scored.

Daws got the win in relief, going the final 2.1 innings with two strikeouts. KyLeigh Knapp went the first 1.2 innings with a strikeout. The duo combined for a three-hitter.

In the opening-game loss to Vian, the Lady Wolverines scored single runs in the second and third innings for a 2-0 lead, then doubled their advantage to 4-0 with a two-run fifth inning.

The lone run for the Lady Rangers scored on Jaydance Bean’s RBI single scoring Addyson Clark.

In defeat, Bean was 2-for-3, while Kynlei Earnhart, Sara Qualls and Lilly Cole each singled. Emily Daws took the loss, despite fanning four batters in six innings.

In the nightcap against Vian, the Lady Wolverines scored twice in each of the first and third innings for a 4-0 lead.

Roland’s lone run scored on Bean’s twoout, RBI single in the third inning, scoring Daws, to make it 4-1.

The Lady Wolverines put away the game with a nine-run seventh inning.

In defeat, Earnhart was 2-for-4, Scarlett Qualls was 2-for-3 and Cole was 2-for-3 with a double. Daws took the loss, recording a strikeout in seven innings.
