Roland Lady Rangers go 1-2 last week
By DAVID SEELEY Sports Editor,

The Roland Rangers suffered through a 1-2 week last week as they ended the week losing 6-2 to the rival Muldrow Lady Bulldogs on Friday night in Muldrow.

The week did not get started well for the Lady Rangers, who lost at home 10-1 to Spiro on Aug. 21, but they bounced back the following night to defeat county rival Gore 16-6 at home.

In the loss to Muldrow, the Lady Rangers (6-6) fell behind 4-0 after four innings before an RBI single by Emily Daws and an RBI triple by Addyson Clark in the fifth inning cut their deficit to 4-2, but Muldrow added two runs in its half of the frame to secure the home win — and avenge the previous night’s “Battle of 64” loss to Roland.

In defeat, Daws was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for Roland. Daws (4-6) took the loss, despite fanning six batters in six innings.

In the win over Gore, the Lady Rangers broke a 6-all tie with a 10-run fourth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Sara Qualls was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, two runs scored and an RBI, Scarlett Qualls was 3-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run scored, KyLeigh Knapp doubled with an RBI and Lilly Cole tripled with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Knapp (2-0) got the win with two strikeouts for the Lady Rangers, whose home game last Wednesday with Heavener was canceled. Coach Mason Wiggins is trying to reschedule the game but has not as of press time.

In the home loss to Spiro, the visiting Lady Bulldogs jumped out to a 5-0 lead after an inning and never looked back.

In defeat, Clark was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI, while Scarlett Qualls doubled and scored once for the Lady Rangers.

Emily Daws took the loss, despite striking out six batters in seven innings. She only allowed four earned runs as eight Roland errors accounted for Spiro’s other six runs.
