Roland Lady Rangers get road win over Central

The Roland Lady Rangers used late-inning offense to earn a 10-3 road victory over the Central Lady Tigers on Thursday afternoon at Central High School.

For the week, the Lady Rangers went 3-2. The week started Aug. 14 with a pair of home wins, 10-0 over Gore and 17-1 over Arkoma to see their winning streak hit four games.

The winning streak got snapped Aug. 15 as the Lady Rangers fell 7-0 to Eufaula, while the week ended with a 12-4 loss to Panama on Friday.

In the victory over Central, the Lady Rangers (5-4) broke a 3-all tie with a single run in the fourth inning and six runs in the fifth inning.

For the game, Addyson Clark was 2-for-5 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run scored, Sara Qualls was 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored, Jaydance Bean was 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored and Lilly Cole was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for Roland. Emily Daws (4-4) got the win, striking out five batters in seven innings.

In the win over Gore, Daws pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts.

The Lady Rangers scored twice in the first inning on a two-out, two-run single by Jaydance Bean for a 2-0 lead.

An RBI single by Kynlei Earnhart, a tworun double by Clark and a wild pitch produced for runs to up Roland’s advantage to 6-0 after two innings.

A two-out, RBI single by Scarlett Qualls in the third inning made it 7-0, then the Lady Rangers put the game into runrule status with an RBI single by Daws, an error and a wild pitch in the fourth inning.

For the game, Clark was 2-for-3 with two doubles, two runs batted in and two runs scored, while Qualls was 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored for Roland.

In the rout of Arkoma, after falling behind 1-0 in the opening inning, the Lady Rangers erupted for 15 runs in their half of the frame to put away the game.

For the contest, Qualls was 3-for-3 with a triple, five RBIs and two runs scored, Daws was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs and Aubriana Gragg was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and an RBI for Roland.

KyLeigh Knapp (1-0) got her first win in relief, pitching the final two innings with five strikeouts. Daws pitched the first inning.

In the loss to Eufaula, the Lady Rangers only could muster three hits, a single apiece from Daws, Sara Qualls and Earnhart. Daws took the loss, despite recording five strikeouts in seven innings.

In the loss to Panama, the Lady Razorbacks, who trailed 2-1, scored four runs in the third inning to take the lead for good at 5-2. After Roland scored once in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to 5-3, Panama put the game into run-rule status with a six run fourth inning to take an 11-3 lead. The game ended when Panama scored its 12th run in the fifth inning after Roland had scored its fourth run in the top of the frame.

In defeat, Scarlett Qualls was 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored, while Clark tripled and scored once for Roland. Daws took the loss, despite three strikeouts in 4.1 innings.
