Sallisaw – Graveside services for Margie Gean Sallee Walters, 97, of Sallisaw, were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 28, 2023, at the Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory-Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Mrs. Walters was born on Aug. 19, 1925 in Akins, to George F. Sallee and Georgia Fine Sallee. She died on Saturday, July 22, 2023 in Sallisaw.
She graduated from Sallisaw High School in 1943 and went on to obtain her Bachelor and Master Degrees in Education from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.
She married Harold Gene Walters on March 7, 1947.
Her teaching career of 38 years began at Central High School and eventually moved over to Sallisaw High School, finishing up at the Indian Capital Area Vocational-Technical School for her last 13 years teaching Business classes. She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Sallisaw.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris Walters Crews and Marc of Broken Arrow; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; five great-greatgrandchildren; half-sister, Jackie Sallee Whitekiller; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, David and Eva Fine; parents; husband, Harold Gene Walters; sons, Greg and Scott Walters; grandson, Schaun Walters; and half-brother, Albert Sallee.
