A three-vehicle injury collision that occurred at 10:45 a.m. on July 14 at the intersection of US-59 and OK-141, about three and one-half miles south of Sallisaw, resulted in injuries to some of the drivers, leading to emergency medical interventions.

According to the accident report, the vehicles involved were:

• A 2006 Dodge Dakota driven by Jimmy Johnson, 28, of Sallisaw. Johnson was transported by Mercy Life Flight to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where he was admitted in stable condition with head external injuries.

• A 2013 Ford F150 driven by Troy Glenn, 52, of Poteau. Glenn was taken by Pafford EMS to NHS hospital in Sallisaw. He received treatment for his injuries and was later released.

• A 2019 Chevy Equinox driven by Carrie Armstrong, 51, of Muldrow. Armstrong was airlifted by Life Flight to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where she received medical treatment and was subsequently released. Her passenger, Edwards Armstrong, 54, of Muldrow was not injured.

The investigation into the collision revealed that the incident was triggered when Johnson failed to yield while crossing the intersection of US-59 and OK-141. Consequently, Glenn’s vehicle collided with the passenger side door of Johnson’s vehicle. Following this initial collision, Glen then struck Armstrong’s vehicle head-on, while she was stationary at the stop sign on OK-141, attempting to merge onto US-59.

At this stage, the exact cause of the collision is still under investigation, and the condition of Johnson at the time of the accident is also being examined. As per the accident report, Johnson was not using his seatbelt at the time of the collision, which may have contributed to the severity of his injuries.

The accident was investigated by Probationary Trooper Devin Harriman #599, with field training Trooper Brice Earls #426 from the Sequoyah County detachment of Troop C, and LT Sheldon Dobbs #116. The Sallisaw Fire Department, Pafford EMS, Mercy Life Flight, and Life Flight provided valuable assistance during the emergency response.
