Staff, personnel rehired in school board meeting
By AMIE CATO-REMER EDITOR,

The Muldrow Board of Education met on May 8 where they voted to rehire certified and uncertified personnel for the 2023-24 school year.

Following a motion from Colby Wilson to reemploy certified and non-certified staff with reasonable assurance for the next school year, all board members unanimously voted yes, passing the motion.

Certified staff hired on temporary contracts included Amanda Suggs, elementary Special Education teacher; Gentrie McCullers, elementary school teacher; Brycen Lowe, middle school teacher/ assistant football coach; and Phyllis Rose, Special Education teacher.

Non-certified staff hired on temporary contracts included Haelee Trammell as a teacher assistant and Brianna Mann as an elementary school secretary.

Board members approved entering into a contract with Brandi Wofford and Lindsay Leach for speech language pathology services, and to employ summer personnel as presented.

Resignations were reportedly received from Mark Anderson, Cydnie Lane and Lori Likens.

Leslie McGee and Jonathan White were both hired as custodians, on temporary contracts, for the 2022-23 school year, and Erin Rhodes was approved as a substitute.

Superintendent Clifta Fugett, during her report, spoke on the Legislative review and Baccalaureate/ graduation ceremonies, reviewed spring state qualifiers, the May calendar and FY23 Administrative Review of the Child and Adult Care Food Program. She also discussed Jana Armer’s induction into the Oklahoma High School Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame.

In other news, First Assembly of God Church was given permission to use the school’s Activity Bus May 26-June 3 and June 5-9, contingent upon them providing insurance; and school personnel were given permission to attend the TCU Advanced Placement Institute Workshop, June 26-29 in Fort Worth, Texas.

The speech team was also given the green light to travel to Phoenix, Ariz., June 11-16, to compete in the National Speech Competition.

Teacher and coach Chris Larcade recognized the school’s state speech champions, Luke Hallum and Ella Claborn.
