1. Virginia Tech, April 16, 2007 — 32 people were fatally shot and 17 others were wounded on the Blacksburg campus. 2. Sandy Hook Elementary School, Dec. 14, 2012 — 20 children and 6 staff members were fatally shot at the school in Newton, Conn. 3. Uvalde, Texas, May 24, 2022 — 19 students and 2 teachers fatally shot at Robb Elementary School on the last day of school. The shooter entered the school unobstructed with an AR-15 rifle through an unlocked door. 4. Parkland, Fla., Feb. 14, 2018 — 14 students and three staff members were fatally shot and 17 others were wounded at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. 5. Columbine High School, April 20, 1999 — 12 students and a teacher were fatally shot before the two shooters committed suicide. 21 additional people were wounded by gunshots at the Colorado school. The word “Columbine” has become a byword for school shootings. 6. University of Texas, Aug. 1, 1966 — 14 people were fatally shot and 31 others were wounded by a sniper on the Austin campus.
