Donor’s Choose has been a great resource for teachers at Roland Public Schools this year. Thanks to Donor’s Choose, the high school geometry classes have spent the last six weeks making miniature houses. The students were challenged to join a building team, find a floor plan, register for a town lot, construct a foundation and exterior and interior walls, construct trusses for roofing, and cover the exterior. Students learned many real world lessons that would’ve been impossible without the project. Along with learning concepts and skills, they also explored the many different career opportunities that are involved with those concepts. Their instructor said students who participated in this project have a better understanding of how houses are built and how math impacts their potential careers. SUBMITTED
