The Roland FFA Rangeland team placed first at the Sequoyah County Rangeland Career Development Event, held north of Roland. Students are required to evaluate fields for beef quality and quail quality, then make recommendations on how to improve the fields to meet a landowner’s objective. Students also have to identify 20 native or introduced plants and give characteristics on the lifecycle and quality of the plants for beef and quail production. Team members are Blaine Colwell, Brandie Reese, Graciee Wasson, Natalie Brunk, and Wyatt Harvell–who was also the high individual in the event. The Roland FFA Chapter is advised by M.L. Lockwood.
