Three generations of excited fishermen hauled in this 97-pound blue catfish at Kerr Lake last Saturday. The catfish was caught on a jug line set by Russell Kennedy of Muldrow (in photo holding fish up). He hauled the monster in with the help of his father, Pat Kennedy, Sallisaw, far right in group photo, and son, Bray Kennedy, being held by his dad, Russell. Pat Kennedy jokingly said the catfish did not want to get in the boat. The blue was officially weighed by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation. The catfish was five feet long and had a girth of 37½ inches. The state record for a blue cat is 118 pounds on a jug line. The record for blue cat caught on rod and reel is 98 pounds.
