Muldrow Football

Broken Bow’s Brian Garrett rushed for three touchdowns and threw for another on Friday inside a wet Memorial Stadium as the Class 4A No. 5 Savages defeated Muldrow 48-0 in both teams’ District 4A-4 opener.

Garrett had touchdown runs of 64 and 1-yard in the first period and in the second stanza he completed a 17-yard TD pass to Quintin Owens before rushing for a 25-yard score. Broken Bow led 28-0 at the half and Garrett ran for a 53-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter.

Alex Nelson was Muldrow’s leading rusher in the game with five carries for 36 yards and Logan Crain (three runs for 4 yards) and Logan Nipper (four for 6) also had positive yardage.

Bulldogs’ quarterback Lawson Daugherty completed 2 of 5 passes for 6 yards, and Zayne Trimm had both receptions.

Crain returned two kickoffs for 41 yards, Foster’s two returns netted 32 yards and Nipper had one return for 19 yards.

Crain led Muldrow’s defense with 10 total tackles and the Bulldogs’ next three top tacklers were Noah Vessell (9) and Brecken Allen and Nipper (6 each).

Muldrow’s Elijah Hixon caused a fumble and London Willis had a sack.

“We are watching the film now and I just haven’t seen much positive,” Muldrow head coach Terry Jones said. “We’re not playing very well and our effort’s not great. I’m sure Broken Bow had something to do with it. We’re just not getting a lot of effort out of our kids and they’re just not doing what they’re coached to do. There’s no other way to explain it.”

On Friday Muldrow hosts Tulsa Central and Broken Bow travels to Hilldale.
